Product Review: Fabulous

Updated: Mar 14, 2021

Upon getting my new Samsung Galaxy S21 phone, the most obvious thing for me was the amount of storage space(128GB) I would have so I would no longer have to ration what applications were of the upmost importance to keep on my phone. So while browsing the Productivity section of Google Play I ran across this app which describes "A gentle coaching tool to help you build routines to become your best self." Well who doesn't want to become their best self. Count me in. Well, it has been a month so far, and I can definitely say Fabulous has been one of the best apps that I have downloaded.

Everything about it strikes me as being well thought out from the Daily Coaching, to Circles, which is a community of users looking to achieve particular goals who take periodic pledges towards that goal. Along with the daily Challenges, there is plenty available to gently put you on a path to achieve what may have been difficult. When I first started using Fabulous, I was having problems waking up in the morning and performing tasks I had set out for myself, like writing on this blog and doing research on my various projects.

After asking some questions about my current lifestyle and my general disposition to my current life as a whole, the first habit recommendation Fabulous made was for me to put a glass of water on my nightstand before I went to bed, and when I wake up in the morning to drink that glass of water, As strange as it might seem, the next morning when my alarm went off, I was able to get up and drink that water as prescribed and begin the rest of my day. If my recollection is correct, the app sets you off on a simple task to begin your day without burdening you with a laundry list of things to go off and conquer. Since, I have added a multitude of habits that the app keeps track of like meditating and reading, and have noticed a consistency building.

The app does come with a free trial, but after the trial period ends it runs for $43.95/yr which may sound like a lot for an app, but I can see justification for the areas of my life that do not seem as cumbersome and are more fluid than they use to be. The habits developed seem like necessities rather than burdens when I first started out. So it my personal recommendation to give it a try with an open mind and see what you discover.
